Some ArkLaTex schools temporarily closing due to increase in COVID-19 cases

ARKLATEX (KSLA) - Due to increased cases of COVID-19, many schools have made the decision to temporarily close their doors or switch to virtual learning.

Arkansas

  • Lafayette County School District: Virtual learning will take place from Jan. 12 - Jan. 14. Teachers will send work via e-mail, google classroom, Lexia Learning, Buzz or paper packets. Teachers will be available through email. Lunch and Breakfast may be picked up from 11:30-12:30 each day. Students will return to person learning Jan. 18.
  • Texarkana Arkansas School District: Closed from Jan. 11 - Jan. 17, campuses will reopen Jan. 18. All students Pre-K through 12th grade will use Alternative Method of Instruction days which may include instructional paper packets or digital learning.
  • Hope Public Schools: Clinton Primary and the Hope Academy of Public Service will continue the “instructional pivot” through Friday, Jan. 14. Clinton Primary and HASPS will return to school following the MLK holiday, on Tuesday, Jan. 18. Students at Yerger, Beryl Henry, Hope High School, Creative Action Team School, and the ABC Pre-K will return to class on Thursday, Jan. 13.

Louisiana

  • Summerfield Elementary School (Caddo Parish): Closed from Jan. 12 through Jan. 17, campuses will reopen Jan. 18
  • Brown Upper Elementary School (Webster Parish): THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THIRD GRADE STUDENTS, STAFF - students will transfer to virtual instruction on Wednesday, Jan. 12 until the end of the week. An announcement will be made on Friday, Jan. 14 to determine when students will return to campus.
  • Donnie Bickham Middle School: Closed from Jan. 13 - Jan. 17, students will return Jan. 18
  • Magnolia School of Excellence: Classes will be virtual on Thursday, Jan. 13. Campuses will be closed from Jan. 14 - Jan. 17, students will return on Jan. 18.

Oklahoma

Texas

  • Atlanta ISD: Closed Jan. 13 - Jan. 14, campuses will reopen Jan. 18.
  • Elysian Fields Elementary School: Closed from Jan. 12 - Jan. 18, the campus will reopen Jan. 19
  • Gary ISD: Closed from Jan. 11 - Jan. 16, schools expected to reopen on Jan. 17.
  • Harleton ISD: Closed from Jan. 13 - Jan. 17, schools reopening on Jan. 18.
  • Hooks ISD: Closed from Jan. 13 - Jan. 17, schools reopening on Jan. 18.
  • Harts Bluff ISD: Closed Jan. 12 - Jan. 14, campuses will reopen Jan. 18
  • Hughes Springs ISD: The district will close all schools on Thursday, Jan. 13 and Friday, Jan. 14. Students will return to school following the MLK holiday on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
  • Linden-Kildare CISD: Closed from Jan. 13 - Jan. 17, schools reopening on Jan. 18.
  • McLeod ISD: Closed Jan. 12 - Jan. 14, campuses will reopen Jan. 18
  • New Boston ISD: Closed Jan. 13 - Jan. 14, campuses will reopen Jan. 18
  • Pewitt CISD: All campuses and offices closed on Monday, Jan. 10. Classes are scheduled to resume on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
  • Simms ISD: Closed Jan. 13 - Jan. 14, campuses will reopen Jan. 18.
  • Texarkana ISD: Closed Jan. 12 to Jan. 14, campuses will reopen Jan. 18
